Art Detour 24:
Every year in March, Phoenix’s arts community organizations, headed by Art Link, team together to bring us Art Detour. This year is no exception and is sure to be a fantastic display of local and regional talent! For some of you who arn’t familiar with this whole thing… the weekend is packed with free gallery openings of over 70+ spaces, special events, pop-ups, vendors, local restaurant deals, and self guided tours of Phoenix’s art scene. While the majority of things going on, I unfortunately won’t be able to see due to time restraints and hosting “The Forty Eighth” at MonOrchid, there are a couple things I’m interested in making sure I see. First and foremost! Willo North Gallery is exhibiting local artist Peter Bugg and street artist Dose. Can’t miss that! Also, EyeLounge is having their yearly benefit show to help raise money to support their gallery! Check out the 6x6 show for affordable pieces by some well respected local artists. Modified Arts will be showcasing “Phoenix+” which I’m particularly interested in because of the amount of ASU-bred photographers involved. Legend City, home to artist Randy Slack and photographer Brandon Sullivan is also on my list of places to check out, as is Bragg’s annual mutant pinata show! Which is always fun to see! The Icehouse is of course a must see! And if there is time I’m definitely going to try to make Marshall Shore’s “History Echoes” Tour on Sunday at 2PM. Of course there is plenty more to see and I encourage everyone to do so, including stopping by MonOrchid to say hello! We’ll be open most of the day today, ALL DAY on Saturday, and most of the afternoon on Sunday! If you havn’t seen the exhibition, do so, you won’t regret it!

William LeGoullon often credits his devotion to and engagement with the Phoenix arts community as one of his driving inspirations and has actively supported his local interest for over 10 years. Since receiving his BFA from the Herberger Institute of Design and the Arts at Arizona State University in 2009, he has exhibited extensively throughout the state of Arizona as well as nationally including juried exhibitions at such venues as The Center For Fine Art Photography in Fort Collins, Colorado and The Midwest Center for Photography in Wichita, Kansas. In 2011 LeGoullon was awarded The Contemporary Forum of The Phoenix Art Museum's "Emerging Artist Grant" and exhibited in The Arizona Biennial at the Tucson Museum of Art. The following year he was awarded a Public Art Commission by The City of Phoenix - Office of Arts and Culture as part of the Seventh Ave. Streetscape Project.

Having solo exhibitions, at such places as Modified Arts Contemporary Gallery, The Icehouse, Eye Lounge Contemporary Art Gallery, and Bokeh Gallery at Monorchid, LeGoullon has also begun exploring the act of curation while continuing to take part in artist lectures and educational engagement presentations throughout the city. In early 2012, he curated “The Forty Eighth: Contemporary Photography at Arizona’s Centennial” which displayed at MonOrhid Gallery in downtown Phoenix. He has served as a member of The Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art’s Artist Advisory Council and is an Eye Lounge Artist Collective and Contemporary Art Gallery Alumni. In addition to creating art, William also works as a freelance commercial photographer and teaches at Phoenix College. He plans to continue living and working in the Phoenix area.
